For this story, I had to step beyond the highlands and entwine some of fashion's clothing. Remember that Lady Anne must be cut from a French court dress? Well, this is not one, instead, it shows how Mary's upbringing in the French court influenced her court dress. This dress survived all these years because the fabric is made from spun gold. Yes, those fairie tales are true - from Egyptian to late 1700s, fabric was spun from pure gold.
This is an excellent picture, well worth clicking to see the full sized version.
