Beauty of Romance

I am reading regencies at the moment. I know they are different from Historicals, but I love the aspect of 'pure romance.' I try to weave this aspect into my book. I want the hero and heroine's attraction to be more than physical. I want them to build a relationship - even a friendship.

I think that is why Julie Garwood's books do so well. Her characters became friends. I have stalled on my book. I have a fast paced intro, and a climatic first meeting between the characters. At first, the hero believes the heroine is a boy. That gives the story some scope.

However, I believe I will slow the story down in places, and give the characters time to become friends.
