Growth

It amazes me how much I have grown as a writer in 3 years. I had a lot of positive response to The Pledge, but as I go back, I see so many things I would have improved. There was so much more scope. The characters were 'real' - but I could have given them more depth.

I am taking care not to make the same mistake again. It is fun to see the characters develop. I like testing them out to see if they can survive the perls of the book, or if there are flaws I need to mold out of them.

Currently, I am reading a novel, The Laird by Juliana Garnett. I love the way she wove the passion into the story, instead of writing a story around the passion. It is also an amazing book in that it doesn't follow a normal 'story arc'

I am writing the novel in a course at www.writersonlinecourses.com/courses/ where people can walk through the novel creation with me. It will be fun to share the creation of a novel with the people who will read it.
