The Laird

I just finished reading Juliana Garnett's The Laird. I must say that I was impressed.

Her hero is everything Historical Romance readers want from a hero, but he is very real at the same time. I find it difficult to create Scot Lairds without making them abusive. There is nothing romantic about a many who is too proud to romance a woman, to arrogant to let her express her oppinion, and to selfish to let her go free.

Robert Campbell is all of these, and smarter than the average hero.

The heroine is also a stout hearted woman. I wish she had grown more as a woman before the end of the book. She is full of pain, and never learned to stand on her own. I like to see heroines who lean on their heros because they choose to, not because they must.

If you want a good read, then check out The Laird.
