Great Afternoon

I am lucky. My husband supports my writing. He is from Welsh decent, and has had a hard life. I ask him random questions about how a Laird would act. He offers some great insight as to how a Laird would act.

I want to add a twist to this book. I want to have the Heroine's dead husband was abusive. I have met many men who could seduce a woman - but what would they do if she was taught, by experience, that sex was wrong - that enjoying it was wrong. And, what if her deceased husband hurt her?

My husband is a great person to bounce ideas off. He is not too thrilled that he is seen as more of a 1500 wild man. He sees himself as a modern, enlightened man,( who just tolerates little defiance, is overly protective,)

My husband is the type of man to go buy me a copy of a favorite movie (or put on the movie '50 first dates) if I am sad or stressed. When I am really stressed, he steps out and buys me a present.

Buying gifts is his love language. Talking is mine. When things are not going right we take a nice long drive and chat.

Today we discussed how the Laird would act if forced to marry a woman. Especially if he is forced by a child queen. My husband believes he would just ignore her - so it is her job to catch his attention. This is good, because some Historicals don't have the romance start for 75 - 100 pages...there is a building of all the plots until then.

We also decided that she should be a master horsewoman, and an archer. This is the traits that will win her the respect of the clan and save her life.

We also decided not to use the normal 'she is kidnapped and he runs to her rescue.' Instead, she is going to face execution as a spy.

This book is starting to come alive in my mind. Scenes are playing themselves out, almost faster than I can outline them.
